Films
of yesteryears carry a unique value with good music. Story, comedy,
tragedy, dialogues, violence (if any) were natural and left an impact
on all the viewers. Music was the real life of the film. Many times
the film had a story that the viewers did not care much about, but
the music was the real base of its success. In fact, many films
were made with situations created to fit the good songs, and the
story was written or modified for those situations. Movies with
good stories or those with just the great melodious music have become
the Classics today.
There
have been large number of Great Films produced since the first talking
movie Alam Ara (1931). Most of the famous and memorable films of
yesteryears, from all those great Actors, Actresses, Singers, Music
Directors, Directors and Production Studios, many hard to find today,
are among the large collection of Sangeet Mahal video archives.
The
indo-pakistan subcontinent had a big industry with the second largest
production center at Lahore. On August 14, 1947 partition of the
subcontinent gave birth to a new national film industry, the Pakistan
Film Industry. Filmmaking in Pakistan grew with good writers, talented
artists, and production staff. Many memorable films were produced
with good family drama, love story, comedy and cultural issues which
are part of Sangeet Mahal archives.
